We could all do with a few more superheroes in our life right now, which is kind of handy, as Avengers: Endgame is set to hit cinemas across the country this week.
Avengers: Endgame sees another outing for Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers, which includes the characters Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Nebula as they battle to restore normality to society following Avengers: Infinity War.
It is a sequel to 2012’s Marvel’s The Avengers, 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
When does it hit cinemas?
Avengers: Endgame will be in UK cinemas from Thursday 25 April.
Is there a trailer?
Yes – and it’s suitably epic:
Who stars in the cast?
The movie sees star turns from Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Brolin.
What’s the premise of the film?
Not much is known about the plot – as it has been strictly guarded by everyone involved in the production – but the surviving members of the Avengers and their allies work to reverse the damage caused by Thanos in Infinity War.
What have early reviews of the film been like?
Pretty good actually – while official reviews have yet to be published (the premiere was in LA in Tues 22 April and are embargoed until 11pm on Thursday 25 April) some people lucky enough to have seen it have been hinting on Twitter what to expect:
Chris Hewitt from Empire magazine said: “I’m still processing. And there’s a lot to process. But after taking time to put all the pieces in place, #AvengersEndgame sticks the landing and then some. No spoilers from me — the official Empire verdict is due tomorrow — but the stones on this thing are seriously impressive.”
Peter Sciretta from Slashfilm was a big fan 0f the movie and said: “Imagine the best possible version of #AvengersEndgame and somehow the film still surpasses all expectations. I cried 5-6 times. It’s the most emotional, most epic, MCU film. A tribute to ten years of this universe and holy shit the great fan service in this movie. Soooo good.”
What did the stars say about filming it?
Chris Hemsworth – who plays Thor – said filming it had been a bittersweet experience, and told The Jonathan Ross Show: “We all wrapped at different times and people disappeared off to other things so the press tour has had a bitter sweet nostalgic feeling. It’s a bit like finishing high school and saying, ‘See you next summer maybe’. We were all reminiscing and saying what an incredible journey we had all been on together.”
Paul Rudd, who plays Ant Man, joked about comparing his and Hemsworth’s physiques in the film: “I’d been working out really hard, I’d been eating really great for years and years, and then, when we were filming I stood behind Chris just after we’d got out of our (super hero) suits and I thought, ‘What is the point?’ We’re basically comprised of similar materials but there is this (pointing at Chris’s body) and then there’s Ant-Man!”
